If you’re thinking of making the move to a new state, here are some things you’ll need to look into.

People in urban areas are fleeing their populated cities and states and moving to more rural areas of the country more than ever. Whether they are escaping higher costs of living, moving closer to family, or taking a better job opportunity, moving can be a stressful time no matter what the reason. Especially if you’re moving to a different state.
If you’re thinking of moving to a new state, here are some things you’ll need to look into.

Cost of living. It’s no secret that the real estate market is booming right now in most parts of the United States. But how are home prices in your new city? Will you have to rent? If so, what is the average cost to rent? Also, what are the prices of gas, food and utilities?

Income and property taxes. Some states have no income or property taxes while some have incredibly high tax rates. Make sure you know what you’re getting into beforehand so you can budget accordingly.

Job opportunities. Most of us need a job to pay our bills and survive. Make sure you look into the job market in your new location and start applying early. It could take months to secure a job, especially in a new state.

Healthcare. When you move somewhere new, you’ll need to find a new doctor, dentist and eye doctor. Insurance companies differ by state depending on the kind of coverage and the price. It is important to research the quality of healthcare and average prices before you move.

Education. How are the school districts in your new town/city? Is there higher education opportunities nearby? This is especially important if you have children or plan to.

Culture. Does the location you’re looking into have the nightlife you want? A variety of restaurants? Sporting events? These are all important factors.
