BRENHAM, Texas, Aug. 27, 2026 — Susan Kiel has achieved a lot in her 20 years selling real estate in Texas. But it was the experiences she had earlier in life that paved the way for such success. Now, Kiel brings that knowledge to United Country Real Estate as broker/owner of three offices.
With offices in Brenham, Burton and Somerville, United Country Real Estate | Market Realty serves clients across parts of Central, South-Central and Southeast Texas. The brokerage covers counties such as Washington, Burleson, Grimes, Fayette and even Matagorda, right along the Gulf Coast. While new to the United Country network, Market Realty has been meeting clients’ real estate needs since 1984.
Aligned with the lifestyle and rural real estate focus of 100-year-old franchise United Country, Kiel’s brokerage specializes in country homes, hunting and recreational properties, waterfront properties, commercial real estate and all types of land. Though, a career in real estate wasn’t always Kiel’s plan.
“I followed a path that taught me a lot about people, hard work and craftsmanship,” she said. “I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University, and (I later) spent five years designing, building and installing custom cabinets.”
Kiel said those experiences shaped the way she works today, backed by a college education that gave her insight into human relations, and a brief but valuable construction career that provided practical knowledge for properties. After switching to real estate in 2006, she earned her broker’s license four years later.
“I genuinely enjoy helping folks through the buying or selling process,” she said. “I get to guide people through a major life moment, celebrate with them at the finish line, and often build lifelong friendships along the way. That’s what keeps me passionate.”
And as for bringing Market Realty to the United Country network, it didn’t take Kiel long to realize the two were a perfect match. “Growing up in the country and still living, working and serving in a rural community, I’ve always felt at home with people who value land, heritage and the lifestyle that comes with that. United Country is built on those same values.”
Kiel said she finds joy waking up every day in “small-town Texas,” and she loves sharing that mindset with her clients. For some, she said it’s about helping them discover a different lifestyle than the one they’ve always known.
“It’s a lifestyle in which neighbors know each other, local cafés are part of the daily routine, parades still matter, and Friday night school sports bring the whole town together,” she said.
Long-term, Kiel said she hopes to expand her brokerage’s reach in Texas. For now, the focus remains on strong service, support and national property marketing for her clients, all without losing that important personal touch at the heart of the business.
“In a lot of ways, rural real estate lets you step back into a time when people felt more connected. And we get to share that, and sell that, every single day,” she said.
